The Tunnicliffe Collection at Oriel Môn

In 1981 Anglesey Borough Council acquired a large collection of work by the late

Charles Tunnicliffe.  The work was due to be sold by Christies, but at the last moment funds
from various sources were found to purchase the collection and the sale was cancelled.

 
The collection is now kept at
Oriel Môn, where there are more than a thousand examples of his
work, including fifty of his sketchbooks.  Also included in the collection at
are over 350 detailed
measured post-mortem drawings of birds and animals, together with examples of
early work from
his native Cheshire and work from his student days - plus figure drawings, architectural drawings,
pencil sketches, pastel work, cartoon drawings,
commercial artwork, book illustrations, etchings,
wood engravings & wood blocks
, oil paintings, watercolours, charcoal drawings, scraperboards, etc.

Admission is free and there is ample free car parking.
